Moroccan Rug FAQs
If you're considering adding a vintage rug to your home then I'm sure you have questions! Below are some of the most commonly asked questions, but please don't hesitate to get in touch if you need any further information.
Do you travel to Morocco to select the rugs?
I sure do! I travel to Morocco twice a year to select my stock.
Are the vintage rugs clean?
Once we select our rugs our suppliers send the rugs to be hand washed before leaving Morocco. They are then naturally sun dried on a rooftop in Marrakech before making the journey to Australia.
Any damage is also repaired by hand, so that the rug you receive is ready for your home.
Are the rugs easy to clean and how often should I clean them?
If you need to wash your rug please ensure you take it to a professional who hand washes delicate rugs. Most Persian carpet shops should be able to recommend someone, or provide this service.
Regular gentle vacuuming is recommended.
You might notice when you vacuum your rug you extract a lot of "rug fluff". This is perfectly normal for a vintage rug! They do like to shed.
How old are your rugs?
Our vintage rugs are approximately 30-40 years old, however some can be much older than this.
The generation of women that made our original Marmoucha rugs, for example, stopped making these about 35 years go, which means they are becoming increasingly rare and valuable.
I saw a rug on your socials but now can’t see it on the website?
All of our rugs are 100% one of a kind pieces, so we will never stock two rugs that are exactly the same – once they’re gone, that’s it!
I really want a vintage rug, but can't see anything suitable on your website. Can you source a rug for me?
Of course! I can ask my suppliers to source certain styles, sizes, colours etc if you can’t see exactly what you’re after on the website. Please get in touch and we can discuss what you're after.
Can I see what your rugs look like in my home?
You sure can! We now offer a home visit service within a 100km radius of Gosford, NSW. More info here.
How often do you get new stock?
Depending on availability we will get new stock in every 1-2 months. If you want to be first to know when new stock arrives we suggest signing up to our email list!
Do you offer Payment Plans or Lay-By?
Yes! If you don't use AfterPay and would prefer a more traditional Lay-By option, please get in touch for more information.
